Freedom1 Independent Contractors Benefits:

  • Fuel discounts up to $.50/gallon at Flying J, Pilot, TA, & Speedway, etc.
  • Free plates program based on monthly linehaul and safety goals
  • Paid inspections every 90 to 120 days
  • Available health insurance program
  • Available bobtail & physical damage insurance
  • Fuel and cash advances using EFS Freedom 1 issued fuel cards
  • $100 for every violation-free roadside inspection
  • Dash camera provided at no cost
  • Up to $1,500 in dash cam bonuses, divided between the owner-operator and the agent, if involved in an accident and the dash cam shows that the driver was not at fault
  • ELDs supplied at a nominal cost

Driver Onboarding:

  • Drivers will be provided with a driver/contractor box from the Safety Department that includes a contractor handbook. The handbook covers contractor and driver processes, policies, and responsibilities.
  • Transflo – Every driver will use this for accepting dispatches, scanning paperwork, and logging their hours.
  • EFS – We use EFS cards for fuel purchases. To take advantage of discounted fuel prices, the fuel card must be used. There is an app available to see current discounted fuel prices in any area.

**Note: We use EFS Secure Fuel. The truck must be logged into the ELD and with the driver when purchasing fuel, or the transaction will fail.

Safety:

Compliance:

  • Transflo is the driver’s main tool for ELD and Compliance.
  • The ELD team is here to help drivers remain in compliance with Hours of Service, strategize their hours through route planning, and train on all regulations.
  • ELD/HOS side of Transflo: The ELD team will help you get your drivers trained and set up on the ELD.

Driver Programs:

  • Bobtail: $10/week
  • Occupational/Accident: $50/week
  • Physical Damage: .007% of the truck value (broken out to 52 weeks, minimum of $25,000)
  • Plate Program: $0/week (No charge for plates if driver earns $7,500/month linehaul and fuel, has a clean roadside, and no accident. If a driver does not hit $7,500, the cost for the month is $165. Reset next month.)
  • ELD Transflo: $15/week
  • Dashcam: $0/week

IFTA (Independent Contractor Agreement):

The independent contractor agrees to pay all road and fuel taxes at the end of each quarter on a pro-rated basis for the fleet he operates. Local or intra-state trucks will pay taxes at the pump. Regional or line-haul trucks will pay $0.01 per mile into an escrow, which will be reconciled quarterly. If the driver uses a Freedom 1 EFS card, all calculations are handled automatically by the system. If the driver uses their own card, they must turn in all receipts. ($4 manual processing fee per receipt will apply). Reconciled every quarter, and drivers are reimbursed/charged for the differences in owed/overpaid taxes.

Fuel Discount Program:

Freedom 1 offers a robust fuel discount program utilizing several national retailers. Drivers receive a significant discount per gallon. The current savings average around $0.65 per gallon after the admin charge. When fuel is purchased, and a discount is applied, a $0.06 per gallon admin charge is also applied.
